Three cups and five medals will be presented as a result of the beer tasting competition. The Matthew Vassar Brewers' Cup recognizes the Best Craft Beer Brewery in the Hudson Valley, and the F.X. Matt Memorial Cup goes to the Best Craft Beer Brewery in New York State. New for 2013, the Governors' Cup will honor the best individual beer in New York state. Also awarded are medals for best individual beers in the Hudson Valley and in New York State.

NEW!! - The Governors' Cup
New for 2013, the TAP^SM New York Governors' Cup will recognize the Best Craft Beer in New York State. Formerly a Gold Medal Award, the new cup will reside with the winner for one year, allowing them to proudly display the cup in their brewery or brewpub. The base will carry tags engraved with the winner from each year. We're naming it the Governors' Cup to honor Governor Andrew Cuomo for his substantial efforts to promote the craft brewing industry in the Empire state, making it easier and more affordable for small breweries compete in a challenging industry.

The Matthew Vassar Brewers' Cup
The Matthew Vassar Brewers' Cup is named in honor of the famous Hudson Valley brewer and philanthropist, Matthew Vassar, who in the late 1800's established one of the largest and most successful breweries in the Hudson Valley. Matthew Vassar was known not only as a brewer but also as an innovator in the art of brewing. The cup itself is very old, and there is only one of them in existence. Each year it is handed over to the winner, to keep and display for a year until the next TAP^SM.

The F.X. Matt Memorial Cup
The F.X. Matt Memorial Cup commemorates the founder of the Matt Brewing Company, producers of Saranac Beer. Francis Xavier, "F.X.", learned the art of brewing in Germany, and eventually settled in Utica, NY. Generations of the Matt family have continued the art of brewing great beer in New York for over 110 years. Each year a new cup is created and given to the winner of the Best Craft Brewery in New York State at TAP^SM New York.
